Fashion always revolves in a circle. We recycle things and hold on to the content of our closets hoping that someday those items buried deep down at the bottom will make a comeback some day. But there are times when a trend sticks around longer than it was expected. Well it is actually a good news as we don't have to splurge in order to keep up with the change of seasons.
Upon closer observations, we discovered three key trends that have been around for at least a couple of seasons now and from the look of things, they are here to stay.
Heavy prints
Prints have been dominating the runways since last year. From Prabal Gurung to Christian Dior, prints are still a favorable choice for all the young, hip and trendy alike. Unlike how it was done in the past, the new prints are more in-your-face and to be spotted wearing prints from head to toe is no longer a fashion crime as demonstrated by Zoe Saldana and Florence Welch. Take your pick from florals to animal prints, they are both equally chic. The one shown in the photo is from Butterfly by Matthew Williamson available at Debenhams.
Bright pants
Color blocking may have been done to death, but the bright pants are still very much on trend. It doesn't have to be neon, as it is well on its way out just like color-blocking. Opt for colors like red, mustard, cobalt blue and orange instead. They look great with a printed top or jacket. Celine and Derek Lam showacased some really fine looking bright pants on their Resort 2013 lookbooks but high-street alternatives like Zara and Forever 21 (shown above available at www.forever21.com) aren't half bad either.
Sheer
Some might think it's a bit too risque to go sheer under the broad daylight but sheer does not necessarily mean showing off too much of skin. Hot off the runways of Givenchy and Marchesa, sheer dresses, tops and maxi skirts are must-haves for at least a couple more seasons to come. If you are self-conscious about this current peek-a-boo obsession, layer it up. Instead of a lacy bra underneath your sheer blouse, slip on a tube top.
