From the outset, we know the 2012 Teen Choice Awards would have a big Latino presence. For starters, part-Mexican pop star Demi Lovato was selected as this year's host. But beyond that, the night brought out plenty of Tr3s faves and several big wins!
Demi actually picked up two awards and seemed deeply touched when accepting her giant surfboards. Fresh off the success of her single, "Give Your Heart A Break," Lovato scored Choice Summer Music Star. She also earned the honor of Choice Twit.
Selena Gomez walked away with a longboard too, for Choice Music Group. This award actually seems rather fitting as Selena announced that she was breaking up her band to pursue solo projects. Plus, the fact that it was her 20th birthday was just icing on the cake.
"This is the best birthday present ever!" she told the cheering crowd.
Adam Rodriguez earned a nice bit of TCA love as Choice Action TV Actor for CSI: Miami. As we all know, that series has now reached cancellation status, so it was nice to see Adam recognized for his longtime role as Detective Eric Delko.
Mexican-American actor Michael Trevino got honored in the TV category too, as Choice Scene Stealer for his role on The Vampire Diaries. Fans of the show will recognize him as the werewolf hybrid Tyler Lockwood, a character who would certainly give Taylor Lautner a run for his money!
And on the movie side of things, Tr3s fave Zoe Saldana took home Choice Film Actress for her kickass role in Colombiana! The 34-year-old starlet made sure to send plenty of the love back to her fans via tweet.
"So excited to be here at #TeenChoice Awards," she wrote. "Thank u for voting! I have the best fans in the world! I can't believe I won! So Humbled!"
One of the night's biggest winners was Justin Bieber, who earned a total of three surfboards. The Biebs (who performed to massive screams) scored honors for Choice Fashion Icon, Choice Male Artist and Choice Single for "Boyfriend."
Teen heartthrobs One Direction didn't do too shabby either, nabbing awards for Choice Breakout Group and Choice Summer Music Group. And Taylor Swift picked up a ton TCA love as Choice Female Country Artist and for Choice Country Song. She even won Choice Voice for her role as Audrey in The Lorax.
But the big highlight of the night was when Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart took the stage to accept their Choice Romance awards for Breaking Dawn. In a surprise twist, the two Twilight stars gave away their surfboards to fans in the audience (and drew massive cheers in the process).
